Pro-Ject announces the next generation of its original Automatic Turntable

There’s something special about dropping the needle on a record and settling in for the ride. But we also get that sometimes, you just want that same magic with a bit less faff. That’s where the Pro-Ject A1.2 comes in – the newest member of the Pro-Ject family to land in the UK, and one that’s already turning heads for all the right reasons.

This is fully automatic vinyl playback, done the Pro-Ject way. No compromises. No unnecessary bells and whistles. Just precision-engineered simplicity designed to let you enjoy your collection – whether you’re spinning a new reissue or digging out a long-forgotten gem.

The A1.2 is the successor to the original A1, and it brings with it a range of thoughtful improvements. The core concept remains – it’s part of Pro-Ject’s Automatic Turntable series, a rare breed of audiophile turntables that handle the start and stop of playback for you, while still keeping the mechanics purist and performance-focused.

Under the hood, you’ll now find a new and improved ultra low-mass aluminium tonearm with anti-resonant properties, paired with an Ortofon OM10 cartridge pre-installed and aligned at the factory. That means you're up and running straight out of the box – no tools, no tweaks, just music.

The A1.2 features a built-in phono stage, so it’ll plug straight into just about any system, even if your amplifier doesn’t have a dedicated phono input. Prefer to use your own? No problem – a switch on the underside lets you bypass the internal preamp and use an external one instead.

It’s an ideal turntable for vinyl lovers who want top-tier sound, without the learning curve. Whether you’re just getting into records or you’ve been collecting for years and want something low-maintenance with great musicality, the A1.2 ticks all the right boxes.
