The Stage 1 Turntable Mat

After putting together your top-level hi-fi chain with great care, you’re ready to fully immerse yourself in your analogue music treasures, but even the best records can be accompanied by unwanted static noises. A low rumble, electrified crackling, distorted tones or a muddy bass can cloud over the musical enjoyment.

When playing back records, two different types of inadvertent vibrations can occur and distort the sound image: direct and indirect vibrations.

Direct vibrations of the record itself are generated during playback by the stylus moving in the groove, which will come back delayed to the pickup due to mechanical reflections of the record’s outer edge and thus distort the signal. Indirect vibrations can also occur, due to airborne sounds are generated by acoustic waves hitting on the record and thereby causing the stylus to oscillate.

The cartridge picks up all the vibrations without being able to make a distinction between the wanted vibrations from the record playback and the irritating parasitic vibrations. The overlaying of those transients creates unpleasant jarring notes.

The Stage 1 Turntable Mat decouples the record from the ground, neutralising the vibrations from the turntable drive through its fine-grained pressed cork material. Static charges are avoided, the record is lying perfectly flat and vibration-free on the turntable. Enjoy a much more precise reproduction in the bass and fundamental range, and experience a close-up of how the dynamics of your music can develop undisturbed.

The Stage 1 Turntable Mat is the ideal complement for your record player.
