The Debut PRO B is a true audiophile-grade turntable, featuring class-leading technologies and stunning aesthetics. Thanks to the inclusion of a premium Pick it PRO Balanced moving magnet cartridge and a high-quality MiniXLR connector, the turntable is True Balanced-ready for users who want to upgrade their system performance even further.
The Debut PRO B takes the traditional Debut template, but improves on every aspect, with each component re-engineered for a more high-end performance. Intensive research, development and listening tests have been necessary to gain the exact sound that Pro-Ject were looking for in producing the Debut PRO B.
The Debut PRO B features Pro-Ject’s coveted Carbon-Aluminium one-piece tonearm technology. The 8.6” tube is incredibly light and rigid, utilising the lightweight, sturdy characteristics of carbon fibre, and combining it with aluminium for its added damping properties and better electrical shielding, resulting in improved resistance to external interferences.
The Debut PRO B tonearm can also be adjusted for accurate azimuth and VTA (vertical tracking angle) settings, allowing more experienced audiophiles to fine-tune their Debut better than ever before, allowing the use of different turntable mats or other cartridges to always achieve the best sound quality.
The in-house designed and manufactured AC drive motor is made to fine tolerances for minimal noise, but to further eliminate any potential interference the motor is decoupled from the main chassis by a mounting plate with TPE-damped fixing points. The mounting plate isolates the motor while still keeping it perfectly level with the sub-platter drive system for absolute speed stability. The turntable plinth also sits on three height-adjustable metal feet with TPE-damping in a unique nickel-plated finish for the Debut PRO B. The result is a platform free from unwanted vibrations, ideally suited to record playback.
The Debut PRO B is equipped to play 33 and 45 RPM records with a simple switch of the elegant top-mounted rocker switch. When setting to 45 RPM playback and manually adjusting the drive belt to a larger pulley ring, the turntable can also play 78 RPM records. As well as bringing convenience to the overall design, the speed control system also ensures the motor rotation is electronically regulated for total accuracy and stability.
Pro-Ject have been able to work closely alongside Ortofon to produce a very special cartridge, designed to deliver a more lively and robust sound with a big dynamic range, similar to that of traditional SPU cartridge designs. The Pick it Pro Balanced is also the first moving magnet cartridge from Pro-Ject that’s capable of supporting a True Balanced audio signal to compliant phono stages. The big advantage of a balanced connection is its ability to remove picked up noise and interferences.
Pro-Ject's True Balanced Connection concept has drawn inspiration from professional audio experts, who all make use of balanced audio connections for a reliable, rock-solid performance in their high-pressure environments like live concert venues and recording studios. Pro-Ject’s True Balanced Connection concept intends to extend these benefits to a broader variety of vinyl enthusiasts than ever before.
To make the most out of your Debut Pro B, we would recommend incorporating a Balanced Phono Preamplifier into your system, such as the Phono Box S3 B, and using a Mini-XLR to Mini-XLR cable to connect between the two. Learn more about True Balanced here.
By adding more high-end features than ever before to a Debut design, the result is a still-affordable turntable that delivers like nothing else at the price point. But, thanks to their decades of experience in engineering, the Debut PRO B also has an eye-catching and sophisticated appearance.
Supplied with all of the accessories you need, the Debut PRO B is ready to play once it’s connected to a hi-fi system with a moving magnet phono stage.
Further to the classic satin black finish, the Debut Pro B is also avaialble in a lavish satin white hue. With almost every component carefully finished in a perfect white finish, the satin white lends great aesthetic appeal to the turntable and there is nothing else out there quite like this unique statement piece.
Henley Says...
Debut turntables are an icon in the Hi-Fi world that are constantly evolving, based both on usability feedback and audience demand, along with a desire to keep up with the latest technologies and materials. The Debut models of today are versatile and reliable devices that more than live up to Pro-Ject's strict high-quality standards in both build and sound reproduction.
The Debut PRO B is a fantastic example of a well-built, affordable turntable that will provide you with magnificent sound at no compromise to quality. The Debut PRO B is not only my favourite turntable due to its smooth sound reproduction but in addition, the elegant aesthetics that come with the turntable. The addition of a balanced output makes this the perfect introduction for anyone wanting to explore audiophile principles in greater depth, without having to invest a great deal. I am personally besotted with the nickel-coated components, elevating the Debut design to something quite sophisticated. I know it has certainly caught the eye of all of my house guests.
Yes, it is possible for this turntable to be upgraded with a true balanced connection to a supporting Pro-Ject phono stage.*

*True Balanced Connections always require a Moving Coil cartridge to be installed.
The interconnect cable between a record player and a phono stage is prone to pick up noise on the way. That noise and interference can stem from a lot of unavoidable sources, such as household applicances, wi-fi and bluetooth devices, other power cables and audio amplifiers. Unshielded (i.e. RCA) interconnects can amplify the picked-up noise and make it audible through your speakers, interfering with the pure musical signal.
Balanced (typically XLR) cable connections double the wires carrying the musical signal – with one side inverted. In this case noise still gets picked up by both wires, but with one side reversed. When the signals are re-joined at the phono stage, the picked-up noise is cancelled out by the opposing signals. The benefit of this is a louder, cleaner musical signal that has doubled in size with almost no remaining noise.

The Debut PRO B improves upon its predeccesor and adds a new cartridge - the Pick it PRO Balanced - and mini XLR outputs to the Debut PRO formula. This sets the Debut PRO B up to be used with our True Balanced phono stages. The Phono Box S3 B, Phono Box DS3 B, Tube Box DS3 B and Phono Box RS. All you need is a separately available True Balanced phono cable. The new mini XLR output is ideal for that! The Debut PRO B can however still be used with regular single ended phono stages as well.
