The Coax Gen2 Series of loudspeakers can play any musical piece with incredible precision. The simultaneous transfer of all high and midrange frequencies produces a clear, natural, and immaculate sound image.
Spanning large floorstanding and smaller bookshelf models, the right Coax speaker for your high-end system is now within reach.
Once again, Piega redefines the boundaries of possibility with a relaunch of its highly successful Coax loudspeaker series. Initially designed by company founder Kurt Scheuch, the Coax Gen2 series is now made up of four newly introduced high-end models that inspire with their unprecedented sound, captivating dynamics, and timeless elegance.
The Coax series draws its name from Piega's innovative coaxial drive units, where two ribbon drivers are effectively stacked on top of each other to deliver a totally harmonised, controlled performance of the high and middle frequencies, all the way down to 450Hz.
Extra cross-bracing and a visually striking central web allow the integration of an additional neodymium magnet above the tweeter, thus creating greater overall efficiency. A newly developed special coating on the foil used exclusively in the new Gen2 models linearises the frequency response in the lower transmission range for a more seamless transition into the bass frequencies.
The inner workings have been meticulously handcrafted to perfection. The layout of the foils, the magnet construction, the damping of the mechanical design - not one thing remained untouched, and each element was skilfully tailored to the next. The magnetic rods have been mechanically decoupled to eliminate the slightest distortion in the magnetic field caused by micro-resonances. The results are remarkable: with even more dynamics, refined details, and an unparalleled threedimensionality, the Coax Gen2 series sets new standards in the mid-high range.
The UHQD woofers have been purpose-chosen to ideally crossover with the COAX range's unique coaxial ribbon drivers. Their aluminium membrane is optimised for playback up to 1kHz, and is combined with "soft" suspension for minimal break-up and excellent fine dynamics.
Behind the scenes, UHQD woofers make use of a titanium voice coil with a very long copper winding and recessed back plate, with elements of its assembly that reduce non-linear and modulation distortion as the membrane moves. The woofer is then mounted in an extremely rigid injection moulded metal basket with large open spaces that allow it to perform without creating unwanted resonances in the speaker chassis.
The renowned “Tension Improve Module” (TIM), specially developed by Piega, previously set the cabinet under controlled tension by applying pressure to the inner walls, thus effectively calming cabinet resonances.
For even better results, the new TIM2 module is put under tensile stress and positively connected to the cabinet. This significantly increases the rigidness of the construction, reducing even the slightest vibrations extremely effectively. The final micro-resonances are prevented by means of Piega's tried and tested viscoelastic damping foils.
To live up to the high-quality standards and optimize the acoustics in the low frequencies, the already excellent UHQD woofers were given more “room to breathe” in the new designs. The result is an extraordinary cabinet made of seamless extruded aluminum, which sets new standards among the world’s highest-ranked speakers in terms of dimension and quality.
These new speakers are also a visual delight. With their elegant and timeless appearance coming from the pen of Swiss designer Stefan Hürlemann, the new Coax Gen2 series will be the ultimate eye-catcher in any room.
